“For the last two thousand years, many Vietnamese (VN) Temples has been sites of cultural preservations where VN customs and values are continuously being recorded and performed. The 5th United Nation Buddha's Birthday Anniversary and 5th International Buddhism Workshop that organized in VN in the year of 2008 is an International cultural festival to honor Buddha - the great cultural and spiritual man of all human beings. On this occasion, we would like to contribute our humble part by preparing this book, 500 Famous Temples in Vietnam, to briefly introduce the history of well-known temples in all cities and provinces of VN, from the North to the South. And through thousands of our photographs, we will present to the readers plenty of architectural designs, sculptures, decorations and religious ceremonies of VN temples in various regions and from different Buddhist traditions in the Country, so that general readers, monks and nouns, scholars, Buddhists and international tourists who visit VN, can understand the profound, diversified and interesting aspects of VN temples.
In the process of writing this book, we are so fortunate to inherit, and to come to many interesting sources from other researchers and to receive ready assistance from numerous monks and nuns in providing data, and allowing us to take pictures of the temples or of themselves.”(From Foreword of the Publication).
